So all of us in New York City have bid farewell to Eco Fashion Week, but another city is about to go seriously green. Starting Monday (September 27th) through Thursday (September 30th), Vancouver will showcase the best eco-conscious designers in green fashion.
Since Canada is one of the coolest places to be, it comes as no surprise that one of the most famous faces in the industry will be leading the four day extravanganza. Wanna take a guess?
It’s the one and only Gisele Bundchen, who was recently named the Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment for Eco Fashion Week. Exclusive to Vancouver, Bundchen will launch a water bottle collaboration with SIGG Canada. Most fittingly, the water bottle will be 100% plastic-free.
If you are lucky enough to score an early vacay from work, here are some highlights to look out for when Vancouver goes fashion-week crazy…
1. Canadian designer Nicole Bridger—the 2009 winner of the first Fashion Takes Action Design Forward award
2. Erika Mullens—this designing chick has her own line, Fever Resort & Cruisewear, which showcases apparel made from eco-conscious fabrics that are fun, fashion-forward, and completely durable.
3. LOTS of Green Fashion made from bamboo, organic cotton, peace silk, and of course with fair-trade regulations in mind.
There will also be a guest appearance by the eco-fashion world favorite Summer Rayne Oakes , the World’s First Eco-Model, who also happens to be a Cornell graduate of Entomology and Environmental Science. Plus, Dr. Andrew Weavers will be giving a not-to-be-missed seminar! For those of us who must stay behind, we will try to wait patiently for some detailed reviews and front-row pics. Sound good?
